How are you improving your role in dentistry?

For many years, veterinary dentistry was primarily a "technician task" with minimum involvement by the veterinarian. The field of dentistry, through education, and the need for improved patient care, is rapidly changing throughout the veterinary community. Veterinarians are learning more advanced therapies and applying them in everyday practice. The technician's role is changing as well. The veterinarian and technician are becoming (or should be) a cohesive team in performing dentistry.

It's important that we define these roles within the team in accordance with what is appropriate for each team member, as well as, what is most cost effective in providing the best patient care.

How is your practice defining these roles as far as radiology, probing and charting, providing pain management, etc.? As a technician, how are you improving your role with regards to dentistry?
